Bake Me a Wish!

Monday, June 29, 2009

This is a great idea for a great cause. You can get a special gourmet cake and send one to a soldier oversees.

"A GREAT CAUSE & SOMETHING SWEET FOR OUR TROOPS

“Operation: Birthday Cake”

5% of any cake order goes to Bake Me A Wish!’s Operation: Birthday Cake, which, together with their partner Soldiers’ Angels donates birthday cakes each month to soldiers overseas who are having a birthday. As you can imagine it is a great morale booster to a soldier to be remembered on their birthday. Click here to see more on this sweet cause (I suggest grabbing some tissues.)"

In addition, your child will have the opportunity to include a letter to the solider! The Kids' Freedom Cake features a layer of deluxe chocolate brownie topped with delicious layers of graham cracker, creamy marshmallow filling, luscious milk chocolate chunks and two kinds of chocolate glaze. Each cake includes a special card informing the child that a cake will be sent to a soldier in their name, a letter from Bake Me A Wish & Soldier's angels informing the child how to write their letter and a gold pin making them an honorary Angel."

Lil' Ol' Me Making a Big Difference

I received this email and wanted to share it with all my readers. I have listed them on my businesses give back list for future reference.

Hi Tammy,
A friend of mine referred me to your site and I saw you were looking to promote items that are related to autism.I have just launched my company's website www.lilolme.comI have a clothing and accessory company called lil' ol' me as well as a non-profit called lil' ol' me Making a BIG Difference. The goal of my company is to provide scholarships and therapy for children with autism, focusing on early intervention. I make money for the foundation through fundraisers for children as well as through the sale of Lollipop Lane bracelets. 100% of net profits from the sale of these bracelets will go to the foundation. My slogan for Lollipop Lane is "kids helping kids on the road to recovery".I am also trying to raise awareness in children about autism. I work with the Girlscouts and have found so many children just do not know what it is and I am all too familiar with kids that are intolerant of other children with autism. I would love for you to take a look at this newsletter as well as the site to learn "about lil' ol' me" as well as clicking on "about lil' ol' me making a BIG difference" to learn what I am as well as my company are all about.I look forward to hearing from you!

Little Boy Chic

Wednesday, May 27, 2009

My niece just had a baby, so I have been looking at baby items. You know I love to share things that I find with everyone. Isn't this Navy Stripes Tank and Brief set adorable. It's not for a baby, though. It comes sizes 2 thru 8. I think it's adorable. Too bad my little boy is too old for it. Oh well. You can find it and other cute items at Little Boy Chic. I contacted them and they gave me a code to give to my readers. Type in "learningfelt" in the coupon area and get 10% off your order. This is good until June 30.

Funcovers

I found this product on ChicExecs and thought it would be nice to share. I don't have one (I don't have an umbrella on my patio table, so I don't need one), but there are a lot of people who do. I think this is a cool idea. If you have a Funcover already, let me know what you think in the comments. If, like me, you don't, leave a comment and let me know if it is something you would like to have, or not have, and why. Funcovers for your outdoor umbrella. It's a different way to change the look of your patio without spending a lot of money. I also noticed on their site that they even have one for the Fourth of July.

Purex Complete 3-in1 Laundry Sheets Review

Monday, May 18, 2009

Purex has come out with a great new product that makes doing laundry easier. It is the Purex complete 3-in-1 laundry sheets. One sheet acts as your laundry detergent and fabric softer. It cleans your clothes, softens them and reduces static cling. If they are not on your grocery store shelf now, they will be soon.

The 3-in-1 sheets are affordable to purchase. The 20 sheet Starter Kit (which includes a dispenser) is $7.49 and the 24 sheet Refill Pack is $5.99. Each sheet cleans your clothes and goes directly in to the dryer afterwards in place of your fabric softener. Now when you buy your detergent, you don’t have to worry about whether or not you need to buy more fabric softener.

The Purex 3-in-1 sheets do what they say. I have done several loads of laundry (I have 2 kids) and they have all come out clean, soft and static free. My favorite part about using theses sheets is that I don’t find my old fabric softener attached to my kids after they are dressed. Before the Purex 3-in-1, I would get my clothes out of the dryer, fold them and end up with an empty dryer. Where did my fabric softener go? I always knew it would show up later. It would be on someone’s shirt, pants or attached to a washcloth.

Here are my before and after pictures of one of my son’s shirts. I have a hard time with stains on his collars. Definitely an improvement. This product gets a thumbs up from me.

Daddy Needs A Time Out

Friday, May 15, 2009

Father's Day is next month, and this would be a cute gift to give him.

It is available at Time Out Spots, the creators of the Time Out Spots for kids.
"The rugs are designed to help discipline children ages 18 months and up. When a behavior problem arises, children should be given one warning. If they do not obey, they should be sent to sit on their "Time Out Spot." One minute of time out is recommended for each year of the child's age (example: 3 years old/3 minutes). Information on how to give successful Time Outs can be found on the website"

For a limited time, you can place an order with the discount code "blog10" to get 10% off of your order. Keep checking back for more Father's Day gift ideas.

Shoes, Shoes, and More Shoes

Saturday, May 2, 2009

Shoes, shoes, and more shoes. I love shoes. Boots are my favorite. I love a good sale for shoes and when I find one, I absolutely have to share this information with everyone. AMI Clubwear, The Positive Place For Girls, is having a big sale on some of their shoes. They have a big variety available online. From boots to sandals, they have them all.

I found several that I really liked. The first is the Turquoise Strappy Gladiator Thong Flat Sandals. I know, they are not boots. As much as I love boots, I can’t wear them all the time. Turquoise is one of my favorite colors. I like the ankle strap on this pair and the decorative beads. These sandals are perfect for showing off a really good pedicure. This pair is not on sale, but the regular price of $13.99 is great

Another favorite is the White Soft Faux Leather Zipper Heel Boot. What can I say? I saw them and it was love at first site. They are regularly $54.99 and are on sale for $19.99. This is not a pair that I could wear everyday. I would have to save them for special occasions. I did find a pair that I liked that are perfect for everyday, especially during the summer. They are the Pink Colorblock Cage Peep Toe Ankle Peep Heel. It’s a long name for a cool pair of summer time boots. They are listed for $38.00.

If you are looking for some great shoes for the summer, go over and check out AMI Clubwear. They have a big variety of sandals for the summer to choose from. They also have a large amount of shoes on sale. I think I will get myself the boots.

Children in Business

Friday, April 10, 2009

Parents, especially moms, of autistic children are looking for ways to stay home with their child and still earn an income. One way that this is accomplished is by starting their own businesses. Women entrepreneurs are becoming an important part of the economy. They are not the only ones. Watching their moms operate their own businesses can lead to children who want to operate their own. They also see first hand the hard work it takes to run a successful business. Youth owned businesses are starting to pop up around the country. Moms can encourage their child’s dream of having their own business with the help of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.

The Kauffman Foundation funds programs for school aged children and college interns. These programs are designed to educate the young entrepreneurs of our generation in math, engineering, science, and technology. The Kauffman Foundation understands the importance that aiding young entrepreneurships has on our nations economic future. They do intense research that allows them to give ideas and leadership with little funding. Their aim is to promote independent entrepreneurship. The college programs are designed to create courses at universities that will give the students the tools they need to start up their own businesses. The Kauffman Foundation also makes available scholarships for students to go to college. If you are the mother of a future young entrepreneur, check out the Kauffman Foundation to see how they can help you.

Gotta Love These Boots

Monday, April 6, 2009

I love boots. They make me feel sexy. You might think that is silly, but they do. So, when I came across these, I thought I would share them with my readers. Whether you want to buy them for yourself or have your significant other or child buy them for you for Mother’s Day, the choice is yours.

These boots are from Zappos, an online website I found playing around on the computer today. They have boots for all tastes. Casual and formal, knee-high, ankle, flat, equestrian, waterproof, and the list goes on and on. I love the boot above, but this one below is my favorite. It’s called Old Gringo Marsha. I love my cowboy boots.

From now until after Mother’s Day, I’m going to do some short posts about gift items for Mother’s Day. Be sure to send your family over to my site for ideas that you will love.
