Man Uses Facebook To Share Nude Photos With Church Members

 

This is horrible. In Lexington, NC, a former member of Sonlight Baptist Church in Lexington sent out friend requests to church to dozens of church members. Some of these members were children. The pictures and videos on this man's Facebook page were nudes and some showed his genitals.

When the church realized what was going on, they called all the members of the church. The Assistant Pastor Scott Steed declined to name the church member that sent out the friend requests. Police officials say that no charges can be filed unless children that saw the pictures step forward. The page has since been taken down.

This reiterates the importance of monitoring your child's computer usage. It's also extremely important to monitor the Facebook activity of your child. Even if the person you are accepting as a friend on Facebook is someone you are acquainted with, your child may not be safe accepting him or her as a friend.

Letting Your 1st Grader Use Facebook

Letting my child use the internet is a scary thing. There are a lot of weirdos out there. On the other hand, I think it is a necessary skill and should be developed at an early age. I also believe that monitoring your child's use of the internet is extremely importatnt.

I let my 6 1/2 year old use Facebook. She uses my accout to play Farmville and Fishville. She loves it. She also loves chatting with family on Facebook. We have an understanding. She is only allowed to chat with family. Anyone else pops up, she is not allowed to chat with them. If I happen to be in the kitchen, she is to come get me if someone pops up in chat that isn't family. I do my best to stay right there and watch while she is on the computer, but it is not always possible.

I trust my daughter and I know she understands the conditions of her using my Facebook account. I like the way that chatting with family improves her spelling. I like that she is learning responsibility. I like that she can talk to her older cousins, her uncle and aunts, and her grandmother in the Facebook chat.

You may not agree with me. You may not approve of letting a child of my daughter's age use my Facebook account. That's fine. I feel that it is fine, as long as it is monitored. She understands the rules for using the computer. She understands what she is allowed to do and what she isn't. My husband and I keep a close eye on her when she is on the computer. If we can't, then she has to play on Kidzui until one of us is ready to monitor her.

Ugg Boots have become a popular brand of footwear. The question we need to ask ourselves now is if following a popular trend is worth causing damage to your feet. Ugg Boots look pretty and feel comfortable, but long term affects on your feet could be negative.

According to the NY Daily News, Dr. Robin Ross, incoming president of the New York State Podiatric Association, said "If someone plans on going on a long hike or standing on their feet all day, [Uggs] are not good, whether it's the brand or an imitation," Ross said. "People tend to get pain on the outside of the ankle, the arches start to hurt, and they tend to get foot fatigue."

Be careful when opening notices from Facebook. My husband told me a while back not to open any notices from Facebook. Reason being, they can contain a virus. Today, the latest news going around is of a new Facebook virus that can steal your password. It comes in your email as a notice from Facebook requesting your password. DO NOT open. In fact, follow my husband’s advice, do not open any Facebook notices in your email. If it is legit, you can access the information on Facebook. Plus, think about it, why would Facebook want your password information?
