Shingles, Chicken Pox, Herpes Oh My! How To Nip Shingles In The Bud

You know you’re not in Kansas anymore when you have shingles. Until you treat it, your skip down that yellow brick road is definitely waylaid. But if you get treatment at the very first sign of an outbreak, it may be gone before it begins.

By that I mean, someone who has the shingles virus can get a pain or odd feeling in a certain area of their body, and maybe a headache, but not know it’s shingles. So it gets worse, it hurts more each day, and a rash and blisters come. They go to the doctor and get treatment, but it’s already advanced. They now have a case of shingles that could last months. And they will be pretty much alone.

That’s because shingles is contagious: A person with shingles can transmit the virus to another person, who has never had chicken pox, and that person will get chicken pox, not shingles.

If you have had chicken pox, you have the virus that causes shingles, and along with that, if you are over 50, you are in the most susceptible group. Early signs shingles may be some or all of these:

Numbness, burning, itching, or tingling on one side of your body, in one area, maybe on your stomach, face, arm, shoulder, waist or elsewhere.

Headache, flu like symptoms, tiredness.

Some people don’t get numbness or itching in one place. Instead, a rash will be the first sign. It will probably be in one area, on one side of the body. It may be in a strip, band, or small patch.

Don’t wait, see a doctor. They can give you an anti-viral such as Valtrex or famciclovir. These medicines, also used for herpes, and can even be bought online through a sexual health center or online pharmacy. By getting the medicine your doctor advises immediately, the virus will be slowed, or halted.

If you don’t get shingles treated in time:

The symptoms get worse. Sufferers say its the most painful thing they’ve ever experienced. After the rash, blisters form. Sometimes they hurt so much that even heavy pain meds don’t help.

If you get it on your face and eye area, you can lose your vision in one eye temporarily, and have poor vision in that eye for the rest of your life, because of cornea damage.

You can be out of commission for weeks or months. You get better, but then get more outbreaks.

In addition to being on the look out for early warning signs there is something even better you can do!

People over 60 and certain other groups (not including those with weakened immune systems) can get a shingles vaccine. It works in 51% of adults to stop further attacks for good, or to lessen frequency of outbreaks and the severity of symptoms if they occur.

Recent Announcements Suggest Cellceutix Is Well Positioned With Autism Compound Pfizer and Novartis

Comment Left Saying Smoking and Drugs Cause Autism

Yesterday, Sara Forhetz with KY3.com, reported on Governor Jay Nixon Missouri, spoke out about autism and the lack of insurance coverage for autism treatments. “Gov. Jay Nixon spoke extensively about autism and the lack of coverage in his State of the State address last week” Finally, someone is taking an active interest in helping families raising an autistic child. Now, we need more Governors to become active.

What really hit me about this article was a comment that was left on it. It reminds me of how much we still need to do to raise awareness of autism. It also illustrates what we are up against. People with narrow minds, taking it upon themselves to chime in on autism. People that don’t know a thing about what caused autism or how it should be treated. Here is the quote:

Sure make the insurance companies pay for something that was never covered before, now your going to make the insurance company raise rates for everybody then your going to say that the insurance companies are bad there ripping everbody off thats happens when Goverment makes laws that cost other people or busness Money. No you couldnt have a option or rider on your policy if you want coverage pay for it, no they want everybody in the State that is trying to find affordable insurance to keep there family heathly and alive is going to either get less insurance or no insurance becouse the State wants to cure everybodys problem. Its same as you cant afford a down payment on a car you get the tax payers to give it you. AKA cash for clunkers.”

First, come on, if you are going to leave a comment about a subject this important, check you spelling. It really just goes to prove how ignorant you are. You are small minded, ignorant, (yes, I’m going to use the f-bomb on my blog) fuck face and obviously have no sense of morality or sympathy for anyone that isn’t looking back at you from a mirror. As a parent of an autistic child, I think you are pathetic. I pray to God that you do not have any children. You are a poor excuse for a human being and you should crawl back under the rock you came out of.

The above link is to a great article about how certain therapies and experimental treatments for autism can actually hurt your child. As a mother of a 10 year old autistic boy, I have tried a lot of different therapies and treatments for my son. I have done research on a lot of different things that have been said to be beneficial for our children.

The question you need to ask yourself when looking at this treatments is "Can it hurt my child?" You also need to ask yourself what scientific data is there to support the treatment you are investigating. Don't take anything at face value. If a doctor sites a scientific research paper, look it up and read the whole thing for yourself. You might find that the doctor is interpreting the results to meet his treatment needs and ignoring the parts of the study that disprove his treatment protocol.

I have tried vitamins, GFCF diet, occupational therapy, speech therapy, physical therapy, probiotics and cod liver oil with my child. I have had good results with all of these to various degrees. Nothing was instant and they did not cure him. I continue to do all of these (except the GFCF diet) because they are safe and have proven to be good for all children. Eating healthy, natural foods and limiting my son's gluten and casein intake have helped improve my son's focus and attention to task. The supplements have improved his immune system and his allegies have improved a great deal. He also isn't sick all the time now.

I have looked into chelatian therapy, hyperberic chamber treatments, and countless other things, only to decide against them because they could be dangerous. Also, the cost of these was too high for my family on a treatment that was not a proven therapy for autism.

Be careful when trying everything under the sun to help your child. I know that it is easy to be swept away with the promises of a cure from the latest treatment craze. Don't bankrupt your family on something that has not been proven and could be dangerous. There is help for your child. It is my opinion that the help comes from time, love and hard work.
