Aquafina FlavorSplash Ambassador

Monday, May 10, 2010

I was selected to be one of Mom Central’s Aquafina FlavorSplash Mom Ambassador. For six weeks, I will receive a package once a week. I will be sampling the different flavors of Aquafina FlavorSplash. In return, I will be writing a post about it.

I have received my first package. It contained 6 bottles of Wild Berry Aquafina FlavorSplash, Wild Berry Lip Balms, and Coupons for Free Aquafina FlavorSplash Six-packs. My kids have drank different Aquafina FlavorSplash bottles. I had not. I drink water all the time, and I pick Aquafina from the beverage section of the gas stations all the time. The reason I have not tried the FlavorSplash before, is that I was afraid that the flavor would interfere with the water quenching my thirst.

I drink water because it is the only drink that actually quenches my thirst. When I drink sodas, sugar drinks, etc., I am still thirsty after drinking them. Also, I do a lot of activities outside with my family. I like to drink water to keep me hydrated. I also push water onto my kids in the summer. Since drinking the Aquafina FlavorSplash doesn’t seem like drinking water to them, I don’t get any complaints from them when I tell them “No” to soda or sugar drinks.

I tried my first Aquafina FlavorSplash after they had been in the refrigerator overnight. It was the Wild Berry flavor and I was surprised by it. It was just like the name says. It was water with a splash of flavor. I liked it. The big test was how it handled my thirst after I have been outside. My husband was sick, so I decided to mow the yard for him. I didn’t want to get a nasty letter from the city saying we needed to mow our yard.

I had worked up a big thirst. I was hot and sweaty, and needed a drink that would satisfy and hydrate me. I pulled out a bottle of Wild Berry Aquafina FlavorSplash. I downed half of it quick and held on to the bottle. It did what I was afraid it wouldn’t do. It quenched my thirst. I drank the rest of the bottle of the next half hour. When I was all cooled down, I was feeling great. I was also feeling proud of myself. I was always pushing this onto my kids, and now I am proud of myself for doing so.

In the coming weeks, I will be doing special giveaways for Aquafina goodies. At the end of this program, I will do a Grand Prize Giveaway. The Grand Prize Giveaway will include some items from each weeks shipments. Each weekly giveaway will give you an opportunity to enter the current giveaway as well as earn a special entry for the Grand Prize Giveaway. I will create a special page on my blog for the Grand Prize Giveaway and update it each time I add prizes to it.

Disclosure: I am a participant in a Mom Central campaign for Aquafina FlavorSplash and have received various FlavorSplash samples to facilitate my participation. Mom Central will send me a gift card at the end of the program.

Silk PureAlmond Revew and Giveaway Closed

Sunday, May 2, 2010

I was sent two coupons, each for a free ½ Gallon container of Silk PureAlmond, to purchase and review Silk PureAlmond. I had not tried it in the past and looked forward to doing so. I took my coupons with me grocery shopping at Lowe’s Foods and found one container left on the refrigerator shelf. That was a good sign.

At home, I tried it first. I shook the container and poured me a cup. It was delicious. I let my son try it and he drank the whole glass. In the course of the two days that it survived in my refrigerator, my son brought it out several times for me to pour him a cup. His favorite lemonade and regular milk were in the refrigerator, too. The fact that he would pick the Silk PureAlmond over the others, proved to me that he didn’t drink the first cup simply because it’s what was given him.

A few days later, I used the second coupon over at Food Lion. That one only lasted a couple of days, too. If I had let my son have his way, neither container would have lasted a day. I only allowed him two cups of it a day.

Silk PureAlmond is lactose, dairy and soy free. If you are looking for a yummy alternative to cow’s milk, you should try this. I thought it tasted like a vanilla milkshake. I didn’t try the plain flavor, so I don’t know how that tastes. I liked the vanilla flavored one that I picked out first, that I just had to get it again. Now that I am out of coupons, I am still purchasing the Silk PureAlmond for my family. One ½ Gallon container is only $2.69 at the grocery store.

Silk PureAlmond is sponsoring a giveaway for 3 lucky winners. All three winners will win a free coupon for purchase of a half gallon of Silk Pure Almond (up to $3.99 value), and one lucky winner will also receive a Silk Pure Almond branded Chico Bag, in addition to the coupon.

Slim Fast recall: Full refund available for contaminated canned diet drinks

Posted using ShareThis

The above is a link to an article about the recall. I also visited the Slim Fast site and have this quote:

Unilever Conducts Nationwide Voluntary Recall of Slim-Fast® Ready-to-Drink Products in Cans Due to Possible Health Risk

Englewood Cliffs, NJ, December 3, 2009 – Unilever United States, Inc., in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is conducting a nationwide voluntary recall of all Slim-Fast® ready-to-drink (RTD) products in cans, due to the possibility of contamination with Bacillus cereus, a micro-organism, which may cause diarrhea and possibly nausea and/or vomiting. The probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.

The products were sold in stores nationwide.

Product Description:

The products are packaged in paperboard cartons and contain four, six or 12 steel cans that are 11 FL OZ (325 mL) each. Individual cans are also sold in certain retail outlets. The recall involves all Slim-Fast® RTD products in cans, regardless of flavor, Best-By date, lot code or UPC number. A listing of all RTD recalled products is attached to this press release.

No other Slim-Fast® products are affected by this recall. No Slim-Fast® powdered shakes, meal bars, or snack bars are affected by this recall.

The recall was initiated after the company conducted quality testing on Slim-Fast® RTD products in cans. Out of an abundance of caution, the company is recalling all RTD products in cans that are currently in distribution centers, on-shelf or in back rooms in retail outlets or in consumers’ homes. The company is in the process of identifying and correcting the production issue, and will resume production and shipment of the product when the issue has been addressed and corrected.

Consumers who have purchased Slim-Fast® RTD products in cans are urged to discard them immediately and contact the company at 1-800-896-9479 for a full refund. The Consumer Services Center is open Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM ET. A recorded message is available 24/7."
