Parent Takes Picture of Baby Smoking A Bong

Florida authorities are looking into the parents of a child apparently photographed smoking a bong. The mother is quoted as saying:
“..And I took the pic to show one f**** person and it was a mistake. I would never ever let him get high.”
Florida Department of Children and Families have been out to investigate this family twice. The mother will undergo drug testing and the child will undergo medical evaluations from a pediatrician.

I think the mom was stupid in taking this picture. I also think she was stupid to have drug paraphernalia in her home. Even if we give her the benefit of the doubt, and say it was just something she has for a conversational piece, a bong is not something you should have in the house when you have children.

In my opinion, this woman is guilty of being stupid, but not child abuse. Unless, of course, the medical evaluations contradict what the mom has stated. It’s a shame that some parents can be so careless and thoughtless. It’s horrible that there are parents out there that can be so clueless in their actions.

What we do, or don’t do, has a big impact on our children. You have to think things out, and not act impulsively. I don’t do anything without thinking how it will impact my children. Parents have always said that raising a child would be easier with a handbook. There are those that believe some people should not be parents. I believe that there are a lot of parents out there that need to rethink their parenting skills and get help. This is one woman that needs to attend some parenting classes and see a therapist.

The city just plowed our road and now my husband has to shovel the end of the driveway to get out.

Snow Fall Accumulation in NC

Last night, we watched as the snow started to fall, covering the ground and roads. This morning, we woke up to snow that was compacted from the ice that is now falling. Here are a couple of pictures of what it is like outside, now.

As I was taking pictures, I noticed a few, brave souls driving on the road next to the house. They were taking it slow, which was good. I, however, will not be braving the roads today. With ice coming down on top of the snow on the road, driving can be hazardous. Better to stay bundled up indoors today.

We did take some time to play outside. Both my daughter and our dog had fun.

Number One Country Music Song and Video of 2009

For me, one song and video stands out above all country music creations of 2009. The song lyrics touched my heart the first time I heard them and brought tears to my eyes. The video actually made me cry. I’m talking about John Rich’s song Shuttin Detroit Down.

The song touched me even harder after I heard about the rumors at my husband’s work about the upper management getting big bonus’s while employees, like my husband, took pay cuts and weeks and weeks off. We were struggling while the few increased their bank account.

The video for Shuttin Detroit Down was extremely moving. The first time I saw it, Kris Kristofferson’s performance took the lyrics to a whole new level. Kristofferson is an amazing actor and singer. His portrayal of an aging employee that is let go after over 30 years of working for the same employer was reflective of what was and is going on in America now. Then, at the end, you see him getting evicted from his home and having a heart attack. Not surprisingly, his main concern was how it would affect his wife.

I think that John Rich deserves recognition for giving us the song of the year. A song that we all can relate to. He also deserves recognition for taking this song and producing a video worthy of the lyrics. Mythbusters Rocket Expert Erik Gates Dies in Accident

On December 20, 2009, Erik Gates, age 47, died. He fell thirty feet from a skylight at the headquarters of Xirrus Inc. He died at the hospital from the injuries sustained from the fall. Erik Gates is known to my family from his guest appearances on the show Myth Busters.


"He was a good guy," Steve DeGennaro, Xirrus' co-founder (along with Gates' brother, Dirk), tells the paper. "He survived cancer, he jumps with parachutes, he base jumps. He's an active guy who was used to taking precautions. This was a freak accident that shouldn't have happened." - Zap 2 It








I enjoyed watching his appearances on Mythbusters. He will be missed by many fans and friends. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family in their time of sorrow. This was a horrible accident that should not have happened. Proper safety precautions should have been taken on the roof. I hope that others will learn from this. Terrible accidents can happen to anyone and it is extremely important to put safety first.
