I was lucky enough to receive an invitation from Maria Bailey of MomSelect to attend a Logitech Mom Mixer she organized in Cary, NC. The main point of the mixer was to introduce Logitech's Webcam pro 9000 to a group of moms and demonstrate how easy it is to work install and work with.
I really enjoyed the experience. I dont have a laptop computer, so I had to buddy up with a mom that did. Each mom was given a webcam to install on their computer and use. I observed that it was easy to install and use. The only mom that had a difficulty was the one with a Mac laptop. Everyone was using the same interconnection, so it was a little difficult to hear someone talking to you using the vid feature. The Logitech webcam comes with their vid software. The moms that went out of the room had no problems and loved the clear picture and sound of the device.
When I got home, I was looking forward to installing my new webcam and using the vid to talk with a friend. That is when the nightmare started. I couldn't get it installed. I had my husband call Logitech(my hubby is the tech expert in the family). The Logitech support technician he talked to was friendly, but couldn't help. The problem was with the operating system of our computer and we needed to contact either Windows Vista or HP.
My husband wouldn't call Windows, because he said that they charge for each call. Instead, he used the HP's internet chat support to fix the problem. Now, my computer is less than two months old. It is an all in one HP, flat screen computer. HP said that we were missing several programs that should be on the computer and in the end, we ended up setting the computer back to the basic operating system. I thought everything was fine, but I noticed this morning that I still need to load some programs, like Microsoft Works. I don't even know if we have the discs for it. I still need to check what other programs are showing icons but are not actually installed.
Back to Logitech. After five hours of "playing around" with the computer, my husband had it "fixed." I was able to install the Logitech webcam easily. I was happy. As I said, my husband is the tech person in the family. I need things to be easy in order to operate them. It took a few minutes and I was all set. Unfortunately, it was late and I wasn't able to play around with it. Oh well, today is another day.
