Ugg Boots Not Safe and New Facebook Password Stealing Virus

Ugg Boots have become a popular brand of footwear. The question we need to ask ourselves now is if following a popular trend is worth causing damage to your feet. Ugg Boots look pretty and feel comfortable, but long term affects on your feet could be negative.

According to the NY Daily News, Dr. Robin Ross, incoming president of the New York State Podiatric Association, said "If someone plans on going on a long hike or standing on their feet all day, [Uggs] are not good, whether it's the brand or an imitation," Ross said. "People tend to get pain on the outside of the ankle, the arches start to hurt, and they tend to get foot fatigue."

Be careful when opening notices from Facebook. My husband told me a while back not to open any notices from Facebook. Reason being, they can contain a virus. Today, the latest news going around is of a new Facebook virus that can steal your password. It comes in your email as a notice from Facebook requesting your password. DO NOT open. In fact, follow my husband’s advice, do not open any Facebook notices in your email. If it is legit, you can access the information on Facebook. Plus, think about it, why would Facebook want your password information?

Unilever Conducts Nationwide Voluntary Recall of Slim-Fast® Ready-to-Drink Products in Cans Due to Possible Health Risk

Englewood Cliffs, NJ, December 3, 2009 – Unilever United States, Inc., in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is conducting a nationwide voluntary recall of all Slim-Fast® ready-to-drink (RTD) products in cans, due to the possibility of contamination with Bacillus cereus, a micro-organism, which may cause diarrhea and possibly nausea and/or vomiting. The probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.

The products were sold in stores nationwide.

Product Description:

The products are packaged in paperboard cartons and contain four, six or 12 steel cans that are 11 FL OZ (325 mL) each. Individual cans are also sold in certain retail outlets. The recall involves all Slim-Fast® RTD products in cans, regardless of flavor, Best-By date, lot code or UPC number. A listing of all RTD recalled products is attached to this press release.

No other Slim-Fast® products are affected by this recall. No Slim-Fast® powdered shakes, meal bars, or snack bars are affected by this recall.

The recall was initiated after the company conducted quality testing on Slim-Fast® RTD products in cans. Out of an abundance of caution, the company is recalling all RTD products in cans that are currently in distribution centers, on-shelf or in back rooms in retail outlets or in consumers’ homes. The company is in the process of identifying and correcting the production issue, and will resume production and shipment of the product when the issue has been addressed and corrected.

Consumers who have purchased Slim-Fast® RTD products in cans are urged to discard them immediately and contact the company at 1-800-896-9479 for a full refund. The Consumer Services Center is open Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM ET. A recorded message is available 24/7."

Are Zhu Zhu Pets Toxic? Recall Talk

My mother-in-law called me this morning about Zhu Zhu pets. My kids have one and she bought her great-grandson a couple. She told me that she saw on the news that they emit a dangerous toxic and wanted to know if I had heard anything about it.

I hadn't. I did a search and the only thing that I could find was on Good Guide. Good Guide says that they have a dangerous amount of tin and antimony. Tin can be harmful to the immune system and antimony can be linked to cancer, lung and heart problems.

This got me a little worried. I did some more searching, but have not been able to come up with anything. I am going to keep investigating this. I also ask that if any of my readers have heard anything about this, please leave me a comment. My mother-in-law is wanting to return the ones she bought and I need to decide if I need to get rid of the one my kids have. They absolutely love their Zhu Zhu pet, so I really don't want to.
