The kids are back in school. Yeah! So, what does that mean for me? It means I will have time to clean my house. Yeah! It means I can clean and not have a little one undoing my work right afterwards. It means less dishes to wash. It also means a lower grocery bill.
I love my kids, but I am so happy to be able to work without being interrupted. It is nice to be able to have time off from being mommy. I will be doing volunteer work in both of my kids schools. I am going to take a couple of weeks for myself before starting. It will take me that long to get my house completely cleaned and organized.
I did meet with my son’s teacher. We are on the same page with my son. He isn’t going to be happy with us the first couple of weeks of school. Our aim is to make him more independent. He is capable, but doesn’t like to do things for himself. We are going to use the same method that got him potty trained. If he doesn’t do his assigned tasks, he will get something taken away when he gets home. If he does, he will get something. He has to communicate independently and complete tasks within a time limit.
His teacher and I will be communicating back and forth each day. I expect that my son will try to wait us out in order to get his way. That is what he did with the potty training. In the end, I am sure he will realize that his teacher and I are not going to give in. It’s getting to that point that will be hard on all of us. In the end, I am sure it will be worth it.

I am afraid I will be lost when my kids go to school. I will sit here looking at my dirty house feeling lonely and not wanting to pick it up because I will feel even more lonely.
I think you are doing some great things for your son. I am sure you could give him excuses, but instead you choose to teach him how to live and grow and thrive. good for you!
I can't wait to get back to the peace in the house. I am ready for routines to start again. Dakota is going bonkers being bored.
It's one of those tough love moments. Children have a way of testing their boundaries, don't they?
Yes, it is definitely nice to have the house empty sometimes for that peace and quiet and freedom.
