Cozy Calm Weighted Autism Lap Blanket Giveaway Closed

Weighted blankets are recommended for children with sensory issues. All throughout my son’s growing up, his therapists have suggested that I buy a weighted blanket to help him sleep better at night and to help him be focused during the day. A weighted vest or weighted lap blanket have been suggested for use during school.

My problem with this has always been the cost. My son is so sensitive about having anything on him that I didn’t want to make the expenditure only to find out he wouldn’t tolerate it. He doesn’t like to be covered with a blanket, and would wake up if we covered him up while asleep.

Cozy Calm offered to send me one of their blankets to try with my son and to review on my site. I love the weighted blanket. The blanket was custom made for his weight and size. The material is very soft and the weighted beads inside allow the blanket to give the sensory weight that I thought my son would like. I was worried that trying this during the summer would be a problem. I was correct. It is too hot for him to use right now. I will have to wait until winter to get a better idea of how he does with it. Therefore, I will do a follow-up review after cold weather sets in.

I can say that I think the quality of the blanket is excellent. The material is very soft and thick. My daughter thinks the blanket is “nice and comfy.” She has no problem with covering up with it on my son’s bed.
