Schools are being hit hard this year. Their budget's have been cut extensively. My son attends a public school for special needs students and it is really feeling the cuts in budget. It has always been a juggling game for them to meet the needs of the children that attend, while still staying within budget.
The students that attend Floyd L. Knight are children that would find it extremely difficult to be mainstreamed into a regular public school. My son, in particular, would be lost. In order to help, a little, I am collecting donations for the school. I have a company that has already agreed to donate and is shipping the items to me. The company is Body Glove and they are sending a few Hydro Slings for the kids to use in the pool. My son has been using one for his swimming lessons and it is great.
I am hoping to gather items like:
1. Paper Towels
2. Baby Wipes
3. Velcro
4. Arts and Crafts Items
5. Bacterial Soap
6. Learning Toys/Manipulatives
7. Basic Classroom Materials ( paper, pencils, folders, three ring binders, etc.)
If you are interested in donating anything, please feel free to email me at tammy@learningfelt.com to make the arrangements. The less money they have to spend on these basic items, the more money available for communication devices and special augmentative learning devices. Thank you for taking the time to read this post.

Hope there are people & companies out there who are able to help his school - good luck!
I was talking to a teacher friend of mine recently and he said in his district more than 400 teachers lost their jobs because of budget cuts. Besides those who have lost their jobs the ones who will reap the repercussions of this are our precious children.
I hope you get the donations you need. I wish I could help... I have one entering kindergarten and one in college. Things are so tight. Good luck and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
