Johnny Light Product Review

Monday, January 19, 2009

The practical and thoughtful anytime gift fits 94% of American commodes and requires no tools to install. The device is available at more than 1,000 (Lowe's) home improvement stores; at www.johnnylight.com, or by toll-free phone, 888-566-LITE (5483). Store cost is $12 to $14. The online cost is $13.95 plus $1.75 for shipping/handling for one unit ($1 for each added unit) and all include batteries. Delivery requires 2-3 days.

Below is a description of the item:

"The patented Johnny Light, the soft green night-light, activated by a gravity switch when the commode seat is raised, offers improvements in health, safety, hygiene, household harmony and gender respect. It resolves the "battle of the sexes in the bathroom" and ends the seat-up vs. seat-down controversy. The device, a somewhat popular Yule-time "stocking stuffer" should win hearts on Valentine's Day. Our customer testimonials (see website) say it even speeds potty training habits for toddler boys!

Ok. What do I think? I think this is a neat idea. If you are having problems with potty training your ASD child, and have run out of ideas, try this. It will capture any child's attention. Sometimes parents have to be creative and use unconventional items to teach our children. I am trying it with my son. He likes it, but doesn't want it there. It isn't "right." This would have been great if we had it when he first started using the potty.

I thought this was worth sharing. I had not heard of it before, and like to share my new findings with others. If you can't use it with your child, you can use it for your husband. Install this in your bathroom, and you will always know when the seat is up or down.

I had seen this item the other day. Someone else reviewed it. Unfortunately neither post has covered the installation process.

How do you get this to stay on the toilet? How long did it take to do it? How do you remove it?

Thanks for any further insights you can share on this product.

We had a little trouble with installation. It comes with instructions and two different ways to install. We couldn't do it the first way. The second way was using velcro(It comes with the velcro). Now our problem is, my son doesn't think it belongs,so he keeps taking it off.

Thanks, seems like important information to include with the product review so others get the full scope of the product.

I think I will pass on this one.

This would be great if it could teach me kid to pee INTO the toilet instead of near, at or around the toilet! LOL! Spend lots of time cleaning the floor around here...
