Humans are not the only ones affected by the oil spill in the Gulf. The above video shows pelicans that have been in contact with the oil spill and a man that is trying to catch and clean them up.
Below are pictures of two other animals that are suffering with the threat of extinction. The Bluefin Tuna, a fish that has been on the endangered list, has it’s home in two different waters, the Mediterranean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico. Another factor that is threatening the Bluefin Tuna is the fact that they spawn only once a year. Their season for spawning is now.
Another animal that is tragically being affected are the sea turtles. Over 350 sea turtles have been found dead since the oil spill. There are 5 different species of sea turtles, out of the 7 found in the world, that rely on the Gulf of Mexico for a home. Each one of these is endangered, and this is the time of year they lay eggs.
BP needs to do more than it is doing. These animals need help and protection. BP needs to step up and take responsibility for all of the damage they have wrought on our environment, our Gulf communities and people, and the animal and plant lives that have been endangered by this horrible tragedy they have caused.
