Dentyne Limited Edition Bottles Giveaway Closed

Monday, February 1, 2010

I was contacted by Dentyne and asked to participate in evaluating their new packaging. The product itself is the same, they have just changed the packaging. They have sent me two premium badge limited edition bottles of the Peppermint flavored gum. I agreed to give my opinion of the new, limited edition packaging and the artwork (created by Anthony Yankovic).

I like the artwork. I think it’s cute and engaging. It definitely would catch my attention in the store. I like that the bottles fit nicely into the cup holder of my car. I also like the easy lift up tabs. The small one allows you to pour the gum out, one at a time. The larger one allows you to pop open the top and grab a couple.

Here’s what I don’t like, and some suggestions on how to improve.

1. When you open it, the whole wrapping comes off and the artwork goes in the trash. The outside of the bottle now looks like a big deodorant bottle.

2. Too big for my purse.

3. Too big to fit in the small compartment in my dashboard. Yes, they fit great in the cup holder, but what happens when I need both cup holders?

4. Too big for my coat pocket.

I like the concept of having my gum in a bottle. The traditional way that gum is packaged always has me hunting for it in my purse. A bottle would be easier to locate, I just think that a thinner bottle would be more practical for me.

Dentyne is giving away 3 bottles of Dentyne, 1-Spearmint, 1-Arctic Chill and 1-Peppermint, to one lucky winner. You must live in the US to enter. This giveaway begins February 1, 2010 and ends February 14, 2010.

The packaging is very modern. New is good. It does look like a big deoderant bottle when the wrapper comes off!! I agree that it would probably be better if it was thinner. The best place I can think of to use it would be in the cup holder in my car. But, there's only 2 and if we have drinks, then, where's it gonna go? It would however, make a great toy for my kids to play with once the gum is gone. I keep all my containers & reuse them in one form or another. Thanks for the chance!

My girls and husband love chewing gum in the car so one would go in each car and the last one would go up in the cupboard where the girls could help themselves. i like the bottle idea but I would hope it would fit in our cup holder.

I think the packing looks neat, but you are right that it looks like deodorant when the wrapping comes off. I had thought I could leave it on my desk, but now I think I'll keep it out of sight in the drawer.

I like the size and shape. It is perfect for keeping in the cup holder in my car to share with my passengers.

I think the bottles look really cool, but the size would only make it practical for in the car glove compartment. Thanks for the chance!

I think the Peppermint Blue wrapper is nice. I'd reuse the bottle for my Slimfast shakes- I often take the readymade, but the shake mixes are way less expensive.writer61@yahoo.com

I agree that it is a bit too big for a pocket but I could definitely see this in our van cup holder or my hubby's work car's holder.

Love the artwork. Don't love the fact that it comes off! I actually don't mind the size - would be great to keep in the kitchen or on a desk

The art on the packaging is great, but as you said, it would have been nice to have it on the actual bottle instead of the disposable wrapper. I would keep a bottle on my work desk for easy access.

I like the colors and the idea of the bottle, but since I haven't bought any, didn't know that the artwork disappeared one the bottle was opened. Definitely a downer, since one of the reasons that someone would be likely to buy it would be for the chance of having an attractive container visible, possibly on a desk (which would be my placement choice).

The does look a bit big but the design is trendy. I would keep at home mostly since I'm a stay at home mom. But when I do go out anywhere I might stash it in my purse.

I like how modern the artwork is but I am really disappointed that it gets removed when you open it. I figure what is the point if it is going in the trash instantly. I would probably keep mine on my desk at work.

Love the artwork - so creative. I would have to use this in my car, since I can't chew gum at work. It would be right there when I got off for lunch and at the end of the day.

What I think of the new packaging: Meh. Its a waste of money - people buy gum, not packaging.

Where I would use the gum: At my desk at work... where I spend an unfortunate majority of my time.
