This is a video from Newsy. It is a short collection of news sources discussing a new survey that has autism rates up to 1 in 91 children diagnosed with autism. What do you think?

We are moms raising an autistic child or children. We also have a mom that is learning about us, our children, and autism. We share our opinions about products and information regarding resources that may be beneficial for adults and children with Autism. We do posts directed just at mom, because we all know from experience that there are times when the best thing we can do for our child(ren) is to take care of ourselves.

You know its hard to say. I would imagine its probably a little of both. I can tell you that our local Autism Support Group has doubled this year! As a matter of fact they are literally coming out of the woodworks. Last month's group had 18 seperate parents(both mothers and fathers were there) and I was the ONLY one who was able to make the group meeting from last years group....so that either means the word is just finally spreading that we can reach out to other parents in our same situation...or that the number is getting higher(the 1%) and there is NOT enought help to go around.
Last year my son was one of the oldest, this year he is right in the middle. Also the last 2 yrs there was only 1 daughter who is on the spectrum. This years group from last month there were only 4 boys! So I don't knw what is going on.....I also know in my son's structured autism room at our local public school....they just added 4 kids! 2 in the am and 2 in my son's pm class....our states Waiver for Autism has a HUGE number of people in the waiting list...beggin for help....VERY sad. I feel extremely "lucky" my son was picked 2 years ago for the waiver. They only take 25 kids in our state.....
A phone survey?
You know, it's hard enough getting TRUE information and facts out to the general public. Reports like this and the BS that Wakefield tried to pull on us simply makes it that much harder.
Is it any small wonder that "Autism is on the rise", but services are NOT?
Shame, shame, shame on whoever did this phone survey and published it as if it had validity!
