Two more weeks and school is back in session. Yeah! On the other hand, I am supposed to have a meeting with my son's IEP team before school starts, and they have not contacted me. I'm not worried, though. He's done such a great job over the summer, that I think this will be a good year for him at school.
He is following directions so much better. He really likes to have responsibility and I will make sure his new teacher knows this. He is also fully potty trained, and that will make things a little easier on his new teacher, too. I know that there will be an open house before classes begin, and I will have an opportunity to talk with his teacher at that time.
We still don't have his new communication device. I will have to follow up about that with his case manager. For my son to get the help he needs in school, he needs to have this communication device to talk and do school work. It won't be easy, but he will need to demonstrate his knowledge and ability independently and in a timely manner. I was really hoping he would have his Say It Sam device before school started, so that I could get him used to it. Well, we all know what they say about best laid plans.
The good thing is, he loves the school he attends and I don't have to worry about him adjusting to a new classroom. He has gotten used to going to different classrooms each year. He does, however, like to go visit his old classrooms.
While my son is going to be extremely happy when school starts back up, I am not too sure about my daughter. She is worried about starting in a new class with new teachers. I'm sure everything will be fine after she gets the first week out of the way. Once they are both back in school, I can tackle my house! I will be able to get it cleaned from top to bottom and get everything organized again. I will be very happy when I get that done. I love spending all this time with my children during the summer, but I am really going to enjoy having some extra time for myself.

I hope they call soon about an IEP. Why do they wait till the last minute. Our school did that last year. Really bugged me. I hope all goes well with school and the transition goes well too.
I hope both your kids have an easy transition back. And lucky you to have some time to yourself!
