Tropical Tradition Coconut Flour Review and Giveaway Closed

Thursday, June 25, 2009

I loved doing the review for Tropical Traditions Coconut Oil. They offered me the opportunity to do a second review and giveaway for a product of my choice and I chose the Organic Coconut Flour. I had never used coconut flour before and was excited to try it out.

It came in a 2.2 lb bag and was vacuum sealed. Coconut flour has a different texture than white wheat flour. It is thicker and yellow. It has the strong smell of coconut, as you would expect.

I used the Banana Coconut Flour Muffin recipe that can be found on their website. One thing I really like about this company is the variety of recipes that you can access on their site to use with their products. The recipe was easy to follow and made a dozen muffins.

How did they taste? That is the surprising thing about this review. I did not like them. The coconut taste was too strong for me. I had one first, and I gave one to my son. The next time I went out to the kitchen, there were only four left. Four, out of twelve. I checked with my son and he had eaten his. My daughter had eaten one and my husband had eaten several.

They all liked the muffins. Who would have thought that I would have been the only one to not like them. This goes to prove that, with food and drink products, you really should not depend on the opinion of someone else. The only way you are going to know if you like or dislike something is to try it for yourself. I am not going to write off coconut flour. Obviously, my family likes it. There are other recipes that I am going to try with the organic coconut flour, and I will keep you updated on our opinion.

Now that you know what we think, here is the opportunity for you to find out what you think. This Giveaway will run from June 25, 2009 to July 10, 2009. The winner will be announced on July 11, 2009. I subscribe to Tropical Traditions website. Try using coconut flour in combination with other flours - it works great then.
